The restaurant itself is quite dimly lit but has a simple elegant decor in brown hues. The waiters are really lovely, helpful with the menu and will make you feel quite comfortable which is great.

Coming down to business, these guys don’t fail even for a moment. All their dishes compliment their beautifully picked menu. One of the highlights is their Aubergine gnocchi, which is served in an unexpected way. Its aroma is of truffles. The potato dumplings are soft and the eggplant is served in a puree as a subtle sauce.  The tomato and eggplant are both soft in texture and flavour. And to make things even better, the accompanying bread is crusty and fluffy but dense inside. Another star of the show is their Pan seared clearwater scallops – with celeriac and apple puree, truffle oil and crispy pancetta. Perfectly seared, the flavours dances between the aromatic grilled surface and natural sweetness of the fresh scallops. The puree silky smooth and the truffle presence is sensationally fragrant. Another dish which screams for mention is their beautifully prepared Sangiovese slow braised beef cheek – with cauliflower puree and silverbeet. The dish has everything you would look for in a braised beef dish: fall-apart tenderness and a rich red wine reduction flavour base, culminating in one delicious and hearty feed. The creamy puree adds a touch of heaven. Monsieur Poisson has the Cannoli filled with ricotta, hazelnut and chocolate candied orange with bitter chocolate ice-cream which has thin, crisp tubes of cannoli enclosing a light and slightly nutty filling. The bitter chocolate ice-cream lends a jaffa taste when paired with the candied orange. Don’t miss to read the highlights of one of the Best Luxury Dining Restaurants Melbourne, Bottega below:
