Trunk Diner is part of the Trunktown complex, with consists of a bar and restaurant and a beer garden, in addition to the diner. The fit-out of the diner is quite upbeat, with a very casual vibe and a very homely decor all around. Service is quite attentive, and the wait for meals is surprisingly short.

The Diner menu is an American inspired offering, with options such as chilli cheese dogs, Mac and Cheese and Ribs just to name a few. Now when it comes to Burgers, these guys have this ‘choose your own’ adventure vibe going on. You have the choice of the standard burger which is described on the menu as – 175gram Fresh Ground Wagyu beef, grilled brioche, baby cos lettuce, thick cut tomato & house-made pickles. And guess what, you can also supersize the burger which is double of EVERYTHING! (Warning: The thing towered over the plate – clearly impossible to eat unless you have the ability to dislocate your jaw). You then choose your cheese should you so desire it, and extras such as bacon, caramelised onion etc. The interesting thing about the Burger apart from the size is that Burger comes somewhat unassembled – by that I mean that the salad items and sauces are all on the side – so the burger that arrived was just the meats, cheese and caramelised onion in the bun. And finally, what’s a burger without a milkshake? And the Golden Gaytime Milkshake is a must have for the newbies and a rave amongst its regular patrons. As you slurp up this concoction of honeycomb and toffee and caramel and vanilla ice cream you’ll feel right in heaven.
