The word Hihou means ‘secret treasure’ and this place is indeed one. Almost completely unmarked and requiring patrons to press a non-descript doorbell to be granted entry, it is easy to miss Hihou. But once inside, you are greeted by a gorgeously minimalist Japanese interior lit by flickering candles and a chique backlit bar.
Coming to food, they don’t miss a mark here as well. Their kingfish ceviche is zingy and fresh as it should be. The duck crepes, beautifully presented with the ingredients separated – pieces of lightly cooked duck nice and pink, light crepes, spring onion, and plum sauce. Absolutely delicious! Gladly, the Hihou dog doesn’t get overshadowed amidst all other brilliant spread. Brioche hot dog roll, with delicious kimchi topped pork sausage – elevated flavours – but perfect with the Orion draught beer.
