The entry to Mabrown is from the Southern Cross Lane behind the massive Southern Cross Office tower. The restaurant has two sides, one for sitting in to eat and the other side of the service area serves takeaway. The sitting part is like a canteen especially at peak lunch time with closely arranged tables that are often shared. However, the quality of food and service takes care of what it lacks in décor.
There are many mouth watering dishes like curry laksa, mee goreng, char kway teow and black pepper beef to name a few. In the curry laksa, the chicken is curried before it is added enhancing the overall taste. And there are lots of noodles – two varieties – and lots of other tasty morsels you expect in a good curry laksa. The curry soup is nice and spicy, no skimping on the spices here, loads of lemongrass, star anise, coriander and chili. The spices are tempered by enough coconut milk, but do not make it overly rich.
