The first thing you need to do when planning to go to Magic Mountain Saloon is to memorise the logo. Just like an entrance to a magical fairy world, if you don’t know the symbol you can’t find the entrance. And they’re not even kidding! There isn’t actually a sign, just a glowing M symbol as you stroll up Flinders Lane. Once inside, you’ll be directed up a curling flight of stairs to the main dining area at the top.
Right from the moment where you take a bite of their signature dish, it will set the tone for the evening. You would know you’ve made the right decision. And that fabled dish is the duck, served with pineapple and roti. The real joy is that each individual element has hidden depths of flavour and when eaten together, a bit of everything will be a flavour explosion, spicy, sweet, rich and delicious.
