On weekday lunch hours, you would find this restaurant packed with busy city workers while dumplings fly around at breakneck speed. Open only during the weekdays (and on Saturday nights, if you’re going to some reserved banquet), Mr Huang Jin is not a place where you linger for long.
The interior uses a lot of pale timbers. The simple, yet elegant, tables and chairs and the wooden panels are attractive.
Mr Huang Jin specialises in the famous xiao long bao and a few dishes of the Taiwanese dishes. The paper thin dumplings are handmade when you place your order. While the prices can be considered a tad bit too much, but these xiao long baos are arguably the best in all of Melbourne. The variety of the xiao long baos is not just limited to the usual pork, you will also find laksa, pumpkin and wasabi XLBs.
While Mr. Huang Jin is one of the best there is, if you’re not willing to splurge for a meal, it will not be worth it. But if you do, you’re going to leave completely satiated. Don’t miss to read the highlights of the restaurant below–
