The staff are known for being cheerful, receptive, and more than willing to discuss the best combinations of dessert with you! As an obvious requirement, the authentic Indian food at Tonka is so beautifully plated that you might not want to disturb it with your fork. Unfortunately, one bite in, and you simply won’t be able to resist devouring the meal.

Unlike many modern Indian places, Tonka manages to provide tremendous variety even to vegetarians, to the extent that even hard-core meat-eaters sometimes try out the veg dishes here. Famously recommended are the kingfish curry, tandoori trout, delicious and soft naans and puris (Indian breads) and duck korma.

Tonka has a reputed wine list and a sommelier who is the envy of the neighbourhood, so make sure you’re feeling in the mood for some experimentation. For sure, you will not be disappointed. Don’t miss to read the highlights of the Best Restaurant Melbourne, Tonka below–

  1. This Restaurant truly deserves to be in top 10. I’m from India and a student in Melbourne, I’ve always missed the pure ethnic Indian taste over here in Melbourne until I discovered this Restaurant from 10KeyThings (Thanks 10KeyThings for recommending this restaurant). The Restaurant as mentioned in the description by the website–has a huge variety of vegetarian food too! Most of my Indian friends don’t eat meat and are dissapointed by the lack of veg. options in Indian restaurant but they loved it in Tonka, I personally love both veg and non-veg food and the dishes at Tonka in both categories were delicious. I have tried the Kingfish curry and other vegetarian dishes with my friends and loved it! I’m too eager to go again and try out other dishes as well at Tonka.

  2. Very useful information in the article! The article covers quite an extensive review, and summarized well to tell enough. After reading this article, I visited the restaurant today, and I can vouch that what is written was really helpful. The food was a delight. I must say that 10KeyThings had really done an extensive research and interviews to come up with such a summarized information. I highly recommend this.

  3. Thank you Myra for taking out time. We are glad that you liked our review and summary.
